It started to rain and ran to the closet to get my bright red, Banana Republic boots and then remembered I had donated them since they were cracked. I also have wider calves and even before they only perfectly fit. So I searched wide and far on Amazon for bright red rain boots and settled on this red polka dot pair because of1) price2) style3) credibility/brand4) water proofPrice:This pair is cheaper than other brands on Amazon, and I do not have the patience to wait for the perfect pair to go on sale. I would have liked to pay less for the ankle boot, but this pair was cheaper.Style:If they had a plain red I might have gone for that, but these match my Minnie Mouse backpack and hat and can match my bright yellow umbrella.Credibility:I wanted shoes from a brand with a physical address. This company does not have a store front but they have a seemingly credible website. The boots are made in China, but at least they are upfront about it.Waterproofness: Sadly, it is not raining so I cant test them out and maybe I will remember to update this later. It looks OK for construction, not as polished or sturdy as my Banana Republic pair. It’s really just rubber. While I can imagine the rubber tearing, only time will tell. Maybe if you leave them out in the sun or do rubber maintenance.The pair of boots fit comfortably with fuzzy socks, my calf fits fine. There is an adjustable band on the side which has a rubber strap and metal buckle.This might be helpful: my calf is 41 cm with leggings. The boot is 41.2 cm. The boot looks like it can be extended by another 10 cm. So at least for a UK 6, the boot leg width can be 41-51 cm, though it might be possible to stretch the rubber if the calf was larger than 51cm.There is some arch support which reminded me of my last pair of non-Banana Republic ankle boots I wore actually in surgery for HOURS - there was no arch support and my flat feet would be in pain I had to add the fanciest insoles I could find and I would wear fuzzy socks with them too. This pair will be for regular rain wear so I doubt I will be in these for HOURS, but the slight arch is nice and I will try them out without insoles.The soles seem to have nice grip which is important. My perfect size is US 6.5 wide, but I usually wear size US 8-8.5 M for Converse and boots and purchased UK 6/EU39 with some room the tip.The inner lining is just okay. It looked like the pictures. Someone said they are well constructed and I think they are OK, but my Banana Republic pair was way nicer inside. If the construction was AMAZIN, then I would give 5 stars. Besides the arch the inside is pretty utilitarian.There is a rubber smell but it doesn’t bother me, because thats what rubber smells like. It’s the same smell when you buy flip flops. I don’t know why you need to put your face in your boots anyway.So far so good! Approved!PS: These work well with UGG sheep insoles! I got a size 6M for my boots (size 8)
